Dear Hillary supporters,

No, I am not writing this post to slander you for your decision. I am not writing this post to hate you for supporting her. I am not writing this post to make you feel bad for supporting her.

I’m writing this post for one reason and one reason only: to say I’m sorry.

I’m so sorry to the Hillary supporters that are utterly horrified. I’m so sorry to the Hillary supporters that are scared to death at this moment because Trump was elected president. I’m so sorry that you have to face this unnecessary fear. Of being a woman, of being a part of the LGBTQ community, the colored community… I’m sorry that America has gotten to a point where we, the citizens, are forced to fear what may come next.

I’ve seen nothing today but terrified Hillary supporters wondering where this country has gone wrong, fearing for their future. I’m so sorry you’re forced to face this confusion.

Although I can’t say I supported Hillary by any means, and I can’t say I understand the fear you feel at this moment, but I can say that my heart is broken simply because yours is.

I was hoping to find comforting words to say to you, but there are no words. I simply cannot and do not understand what you’re feeling at this moment, but I encourage you to find hope in something other than a president. Whether you believe in Him or not, my hope is in Christ alone. Clinging to Him right now is the only sense of comfort provided to me. I’m not here to force you into my beliefs. That’s not my intention, at all. My intention is to let you know that because your heart is broken, mine is too. I hurt with you. I ache with you. I’m not with her, but I’m with you.

I’m hoping there’s some way you can find peace in all of this chaos.

I’m hoping there’s a way to stop all of this hate, on both ends.

I’m hoping you, as a Hillary supporter, will stand with me and choose to bring this country back into unity, peace, and love.

Let’s stand with each other, not against each other.
